Spyglass Entertainment has jumped into "Leap Year," preemptively buying the romantic comedy pitch from the writing team of Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont ("Made of Honor") in a deal worth seven figures.
Project is being produced Spyglass toppers Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum and president Jonathan Glickman along with Benderspink's Chris Bender and J.C. Spink. Benderspink's Jake Weiner will exec produce.
No logline was given.
The Spyglass purchase comes in the wake of its romantic comedy "27 Dresses" topping $140 million in worldwide grosses. Benderspink's post-strike slate includes "Shell Game," "Cutlass Islands" and "Urge."
Kaplan and Elfont's other credits include "Sisters of Mercy," "Married in the Morning" and "99 Problems," all set at Sony.
