Warner Bros. will become the first studio in the U.K. to offer some of its movies on DVD and video-on-demand on the same day.
Subscribers to Sky Box Office, Virgin, BT Vision, Xbox Live will be able to download select pics for £3.95 ($7.88) each and watch them an any number of times within 24 hours.
“We’re incredibly excited about this new, innovative consumer offer. By being the first in the U.K. to make some of our movies available on the same day to buy on DVD and to ‘rent’/access digitally, we and our partners are helping to satisfy growing consumer desire from our customers to see what they want, how, where and when they want it,” said Josh Berger, president and managing director of Warner Bros. U.K.
Warner Bros.’ DVD/VOD launch in the U.K. follows similar trials in the U.S. and in the Benelux and Nordic regions.
Per WB, these trials have shown VOD buy rates and DVD sales rise due to the increased cross-promotion and marketing exposure of titles at retail and on-demand.
