Wenders’ current project, “The Palermo Shooting,” about a jaded German photographer who moves to Sicily in order to start a new life, will be the first film under the company’s new name. Senator Film is releasing “Palermo” in Germany.
Wenders set up the original Road Movies in 1976. At the height of the Neuer Markt the company merged with visual effects group Das Werk, a short-lived marriage that ended when Das Werk went belly up in 2002 and Wenders exited the following year.
The company, which stressed that the new firm has no connection to the old, said Wenders was eager to work with young filmmakers to break new ground.
