Gold Circle is out to directors and pointing for a summer or fall start. Gold Circle's Scott Niemeyer and Norm Waitt exec produce and the shingle's Brad Kessell, who brought the project in, will co-produce.
Gold Circle has acquired Jason Pomerance's spec, based on the novel by Charles Dickinson centered on two widowed sisters who embark on an unlikely trip from Chicago to Los Angeles, setting off a comic family odyssey of revelation and reconciliation.
Pomerance first pursued the novel several years ago, optioning the book himself when the rights recently became available and then developing with Sherman before they brought the project to Gold Circle. Mandate International will handle foreign sales.
Keaton recently starred in Overture's "Mad Money" and toplined Gold Circle's "Because I Said So." She is repped by Endeavor.
Gold Circle is in production on "The New Daughter," starring Kevin Costner, and in post on "Chilled in Miami," starring Renee Zellweger. Sherman recently co-produced "Lonely Hearts," starring John Travolta and James Gandolfini for Millennium Films and Roadside Attractions.
Pomerance is repped by Gersh and Rosa Entertainment and Dickinson is repped by Robin Strauss.
