'My Scary Girl' joins Barrington lineup
'See Rock City' also on the schedule
Based on a 2006 Korean comedy-horror-romance pic, "My Scary Girl" follows a man who discovers dark secrets about his new girlfriend. Will Aronson provides the music with lyrics by Kyoung-ae Kang, who co-wrote the book with Mark St. Germain. Show runs July 9-26.
"See Rock City & Other Destinations," with music by Brad Alexander and book and lyrics by Adam Mathias, follows tourists in search of themselves. Kevin Del Aguila helms the production running Aug. 7-23.
The previously announced "Burdick," a full production of a successful workshop the theater presented last summer, is the latest from composer Chris Miller and lyricist Nathan Tysen, who collaborated on well-received Barrington offering "The Burnt Part Boys." Joe Calarco wrote the book and directs the production, which runs June 18-July 5.
Also on lab's slate are special events that include a May staged reading of "Watt!?!" -- a comic rock tuner about Ronald Reagan's first secretary of the interior, with book and lyrics by David Javerbaum ("Cry-Baby") and music by Brendan Milburn -- and a weekend run in August of song cycle "Sleepless Variations" with Mary Testa ("Xanadu") and Michael Starobin.
Barrington launched "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling," which eventually went on to a profitable Broadway run that ended earlier this year.
