Black has been through the slime before, having hosted the event in 2006.
"I have no slime issues whatsoever," he says. "I'm planning on full submersion."
Black calls his return gig for the KCAs "an honor."
"I mean, a lot of people have done it once, but once you join the ranks of the two-time KCA hosters, you're in a very elite club. It's so elite, I don't even know who else is in it."
For the record, Black is only the second host to return, though he remains far behind Rosie O'Donnell's record seven years.
The best part of KCA hosting, he says, is he can really let loose.
"I don't have to worry about sophisticated humor," he explains from the set of his next film, the prehistoric adventure comedy "Year One."
"I can just go straight to the ridiculous and be as silly and absurd as I want to be. I get rewarded for that kind of behavior on this kind of a gig. And that's exciting for me."
But Black says hosting the KCAs can be nerve-wracking.
"There's a huge live audience there, and it's going (live) on camera. That is always the most pressure-ful pressure cooker.
"Having done a little bit of sitcom work, and presenting at the Oscars or (being on) 'Saturday Night Live,' whenever there's a live audience there, you want to rock. And (with) millions of people watching, your brain kind of splits in two, and you can overload."
The problem isn't playing to both the camera and the audience, he explains.
"If you're rocking the room, you're going to look good on camera. But if there's a live audience there, you can't stop and start over and do a piece over again. You've got to keep it flowing, you've got to go through. That's the name of that tune."
