Filmmaker Byron Morgan dies at 87
Documentary creator worked with NASA
While working in public relations for NASA, Morgan created dozens of documentaries such as "The Astronauts" United States Project Mercury" and "Project Apollo: Manned Flight to the Moon."
Born in Los Angeles, he graduated UCLA and served in the Navy in WWII and the Korean War. He wrote a play "October Days" based on his experiences as a Soviet war prisoner, and also served as technical advisor to the miniseries "Space" based on the James Michener novel. His father, Albert Byron Morgan, was an early Hollywood screenwriter.
He is survived by his wife, Dell; three sons; five daughters; two stepchildren; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
