The 30-story building on the Russian capital's Olympisky Prospect, in which the channel is an investor, will house news studios and broadcast suites, morning shows and daily programs, channel general director Konstantin Ernst said.
"The approaching digital revolution on Russian TV may lead to massive growth in the number of channels and demand for more content, which our current Moscow production facilities cannot meet," Ernst told Daily Variety.
The channel also plans to build film studios near Moscow's second airport at Domodedova, southeast of the capital.
The new facilities would meet the First Channel's TV and film production needs for the next 10 years, Ernst said.
"The First Channel and its partners will build a full-service studio complex that will cover our needs and also offer facilities and expertise to Western film companies at reasonable prices," Ernst added.
The First Channel has produced a series of box office movie hits in Russia, including Timur Bekmambetov's "Day Watch," which grossed a record-breaking $35 million at Russian theaters last year.
Ernst declined to give financial figures for the value of the studios and broadcast space the channel was investing in.
A First Channel spokesman Monday saidreports earlier this month that the channel was joining forces with Kazakh banker Mukhtar Ablyazov to develop a $1.4 billion media park south of the Russian capital were incorrect.
