Producers of the rock tuner initially worried how receptive road markets would be to the musical’s edgy subject matter, centered on a group of teens grappling with sex and death. But resistance on the part of presenters has so far not hindered the upcoming tour.
The “Spring Awakening” tour begins perfs at the Curran Sept. 4. A pre-tour incarnation plays San Diego in August.
