'Glory Days' heads to Broadway

John O'Boyle, Ricky Stevens will produce

The next tenant of Broadway venue Circle in the Square looks likely to be "Glory Days," a small-scale tuner that preemed at the D.C. area's Signature Theater earlier this year.

John O'Boyle and Ricky Stevens, both members of the producing teams of recent Rialto offerings "Is He Dead?" and "Radio Golf," are working to produce a Gotham incarnation with Signature Theater.

One of the smaller Broadway houses, Circle in the Square has been empty since "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" ended a profitable run of almost three years in January.

"Glory Days," about four young men hanging out on the bleachers of their high school football field, comes from the twentysomething creative team of composer-lyricist Nick Blaemire and book writer James Gardiner. Signature a.d. Eric Shaeffer directed the Signature production.

"Glory Days" is said to be aiming to open in Gotham before the 2007-08 Broadway season ends in early May. Signature is currently in the midst of a Kander and Ebb fest that includes productions of rarely seen works "The Happy Time" and "The Visit."
