Orly takes foreign rights to 'Herbes'
Resnais's latest film now shooting in Paris
The romantic thriller rolled March 5, and will shoot in Paris' Studios d'Arpajon.
Befitting an old master who fascinated audiences with "Hiroshima, mon amour" (1959) and drew crowds for more recent outings such as "Smoking/No Smoking" (1993), "Herbes" comes with e11 million ($17.3 million) in co-production coin, private and public sector support plus top-notch thesps.
The Franco-Italian co-production is lead produced by Jean-Louis Livi for the Paris-based F Comme Film, with a pre-buy and co-production equity from France 2 Cinema, and a 10% minority participation from Bim Distribution.
Pic has been pre-bought by Canal Plus, whose sister company, StudioCanal, will handle theatrical distribution in France.
"Herbes" is Resnais' first adaptation of a novel, Christian Gailly's "L'incident."
It toplines Resnais regulars Sabine Azema and Andre Dusollier, plus newcomers Emmanuelle Devos, Anne Consigny and Mathieu Amalric, in a tale of a femme dentist (Azema) who starts a romance with a man (Dusollier) who finds her stolen wallet.
