Hitchcock spoof "The 39 Steps" will step into a commercial Broadway run -- a month after its nonprofit Rialto stint ends March 29 at the Roundabout's American Airlines Theater.
Four-thesp comic retelling of the 1935 thriller will play the Cort beginning April 29. Current resident of the Cort, "The Homecoming," ends its engagement April 13.
Bob Boyett leads a team of commercial producers involved in "39 Steps," along with the Roundabout and Boston's Huntington Theater, where the production ran prior to its initial stint in Gotham.
The well-reviewed show has proved popular with Roundabout subscribers, and overall attendance has been strong. Last week the production played to auds at 96% of capacity.
"Steps" originated in the U.K. and is still playing on the West End. Maria Aitken directs an adaptation by Patrick Barlow, with the four cast members of the Roundabout incarnation reprising their roles for the commercial transfer.
