According to preliminary nationals from Nielsen, "Lost" averaged a projected 4.8 rating/13 share in adults 18-49 and 12.0 million viewers overall from 9 to 10:02 p.m., falling 11% from its previous season low, set in both of its last two airings. Still, it held off firstrun reality competition "Celebrity Apprentice" on NBC (3.1/8 in 18-49, 8.1 million viewers overall) and "Don't Forget the Lyrics" (3.1/8 in 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall) as well as a repeat of CBS drama "CSI" (2.9/8 in 18-49, 11.5 million viewers overall).
CBS opened the night in winning fashion with "Survivor" (4.2/13 in 18-49, 13.1 million viewers overall), which was up by 3 share points vs. last week when it faced Fox's "American Idol" and stood as the night's most-watched program overall. It handily defeated Fox's "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader" (2.7/8 in 18-49, 9.3 million viewers overall), ABC's "Lost" repeat (1.8/5 in 18-49, 5.3 million viewers overall) and NBC's repeat hour of "My Name Is Earl" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall).
It was another tight three-way race in the 10 o'clock hour, meanwhile, where CBS' repeat of "Without a Trace" (2.4/7 in 18-49, 9.9 million viewers overall) was in a preliminary tie with NBC's "Lipstick Jungle" (2.4/7 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall), with ABC's "Eli Stone" right there as well (projected 2.3/7 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall from 10:02 to 11 p.m.).
At CW, following an original "Smallville" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall), "Reaper" averaged a 1.2/3 in 18-49 and 2.8 million viewers overall in its first try on Thursday.
