New-media distribution specialist Mandalay Media has tapped Bruce Stein as CEO.
Stein has served in senior management roles at Mattel, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Kenner Products. He was most recently co-founder and co-CEO of production banner the Hatchery.
Stein also served as a strategic consultant to DreamWorks, Warner Bros. Entertainment and Mandalay Entertainment Group. He was involved in Mandalay Media's recent acquisition of Twistbox Entertainment.
Mandalay Media noted that its focus is on acquiring companies with digital distribution, TV assets, interactive entertainment, online/Internet/digital media, publishing, music and theatrical film assets. Its directors include Mandalay Entertainment topper Peter Guber and Trinad Capital partner Rob Ellin.
"My partners and I see this time as a tremendous opportunity to take our industry knowledge, expertise and capital to build a unique
keiretsu of companies doing business in digital media and other areas where properties can be fully optimized," Guber said in a statement. "We believe there is no one better than Bruce to find other companies to invest in and to lead this company into the future."
