Talent agent J. Michael Bloom dies

Bloom was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio, and graduated Ohio U. and the U. of Florida.
After teaching high school speech and debate, he moved to New York in 1969 and acted in several Broadway productions. During the 60s and early 70s he also directed several operatic productions in the midwest. In 1974, after a stint as a talent agent in New York, he opened his own agency, J. Michael Bloom and Associates, representing artists for theater, TV, features, commercials and voiceovers.
Bloom also represented writers for plays, television and feature films. He expanded into repping print models as well as sports figures. In 1980, he opened an office in Los Angeles which represented artists in film, television and literary projects. He sold his company in 1998 and opened Meridian Artists, a smaller, boutique agency. More recently he worked as a private acting consultant.
He is survived by two brothers and a sister.
