Goldwyn puts stamp on 'Paris'
Company picks up rights to Binoche dramedy

Oscar winner Juliette Binoche stars in what has been dubbed the writer-director’s “love letter to Paris.” When it bowed in February in France, Gallic pic garnered rave reviews and strong B.O. Goldwyn plans to debut the dramedy Stateside in the fall.
Plot follows a professional chorus dancer (Romain Duris) who’s sidelined by a weak heart and forced to reassess his life’s priorities with the help of his sister (Binoche).
Klapisch (“L’Auberge espagnole”) reteamed with producer Bruno Levy (“Ce qui me meut”), and pic marks his sixth outing with thesp Duris. Cast also includes Fabrice Luchini, Albert Dupontel, Francois Cluzet, Karin Viard, Melanie Laurent, Gilles Lellouche, Zinedine Soualem and Julie Ferrier.
“It is a beautifully told story with an exceptional cast including the city itself, which has never looked so radiant and compelling onscreen,” said Goldwyn’s veep of acquisitions Peter Goldwyn.
Deal was negotiated by Goldwyn with StudioCanal’s Saya Huddleston.
Goldwyn’s 2008 slate includes romantic comedy “Priceless,” starring Audrey Tautou, which opens March 28; Claude Lelouch’s “Roman de gare” (Crossed Tracks) on April 25; and “Fugitive Pieces,” based on Anne Michaels’ novel, on May 2.
