Wal-Mart hits the Bollywood trail

Retail giant to distribute movies in Canada

In a major outreach to the Indian diaspora, Wal-Mart will distrib Eros Intl. movies in Canada.

Eros DVDs will be released in 27 of the retail giant's Canadian stores and extended to its entire Canuck network later. Eros says the move is a first for a Bollywood label.

Over time Eros will make available a large number of titles from its catalog of more than 1,300 films as well as its 30-40 new releases every year.

"Bollywood as an entertainment category is growing rapidly internationally. Canada is a very important market for us for cinema as well as DVD distribution," said Ken Naz, Eros Intl.'s U.S. prexy.
