'Capacity' opens Gen Art

Festival to premiere Sundance selection

The Gen Art Film Festival bows April 2 in Gotham with a screening of Sundance selection "Diminished Capacity," directed by Terry Kinney and starring Matthew Broderick, Alan Alda and Virginia Madsen.

Fest will host seven features and seven shorts from emerging North American filmmakers, followed by seven parties.

Closing-night pic on April 8 is Brad Furman's "The Take," starring John Leguizamo, Tyrese Gibson, Bobby Cannavale and Rosie Perez.

Marking its 13th year, fest will feature one preem along with the pics that unspooled at Sundance, Slamdance, SXSW and Toronto. Screenings are held at Chelsea's Visual Arts Theater.

Gen Art invited young Gothamites to sort through almost 1,000 submissions and advance their favorites into the programming committee for further consideration.

Directors who have come through the fest include Brad Anderson, Richard Shepherd and Tim Blake Nelson.
