Mike Million will make his directorial debut with his own script about a beleaguered college professor (Wilson) who competes for tenure with an impressive new female colleague. "The Office" regular David Koechner co-stars as Wilson's anthropology prof sidekick. Principle photography begins in April in Philadelphia.
Produced by Paul Schiff, Tai Duncan and Brendan McDonald, "Tenure" was the "ideal Blowtorch project," said CEO Kelly Rodrigues, who plans to release a series of low-budget, youth-oriented movies, marketed in concert with concurrent live events, in targeted college communities. The first will be the pickup "Spin," set to open in theaters later this year.
Blowtorch also produces and distributes shorts and mobile content and hosts an online social community at Blowtorch.com. The company's homevid distribution is handled by Vivendi Visual Entertainment.
