MADRID -- Jorge Vazquez has been upped to general manager of Spanish indie distributor Aurum Prods., owned by Canada-based Alliance Films.
Vazquez will oversee all business lines at Aurum, reporting to Xavier Marchand, Alliance Films prexy of international distribution.
Vazquez was previously head of the film division at Aurum, which he joined in 1999.
Completing a shuffle of top execs, former head of video Igor Ibeas has been tapped Aurum deputy general manager, responsible for film, video and new media divisions. The g.m. post has been vacant since May, when Alberto Canizares ankled.
Despite management changes, Aurum was Spain's top-grossing indie distributor last year, earning 35.8 million euros ($54.8 million) in Spanish theaters thanks to solid performances of "Next" ($7.5 million), "Hannibal Rising" ($4.9 million) and "The Messengers" ($4.9 million).
Aurum's 2008 distrib slate includes "The Accidental Husband," "Seraphim Falls" and "Resurrecting the Champ."
