Scorpio makes 6-pic pact with EMP

Package includes rare Jackie Chan film

HONG KONG -- Singapore distrib Scorpio East has signed up for a package of six films from Hong Kong's Emperor Motion Pictures.

The rare package deal covers Jackie Chan-starrer "The Shinjuku Incident" and Chen Kaige-helmed biopic "Mei Lan Fang" with Zhang Ziyi and Leon Lai. First into theaters, however, will be Sylvia Chang-helmed "Run Papa run."

Deal, spanning theatrical, homevideo and free-to-air TV rights, also includes aquatic comedy "The Fantastic Waterbabes," "Home Run," and "Yes, I Can See Dead People."

Stock market-listed Scorpio recently scored major hits with Singapore's foreign-language Oscar contender "881" and Jay Chou-starrer "Kung Fu Dunk," which Emperor repped in several territories.
