Sony Pictures Television Intl.'s Superna Kalle has been promoted to senior VP, heading the network business in India, while George Chien, VP of international networks, will include Southeast Asia and Japan under his purview while working with Kalle on the Indian channels.  

Both are based at SPTI's headquarters in Culver City and report to , international networks prexy Andy Kaplan.

Kalle will lead SPTI's Multi Screen Media arm, which includes the channels Sony Entertainment Television (SET), MAX, SAB and PIX.  She will also expand the portfolio of Indian channels and content in the U.S. Kalle will also sit on the board of TheOneAlliance, Multi Screen's distribution joint venture with Discovery Communications India.

Kalle has been SPTI's veep of international networks since 2005.  

Chien will provide management support to SPTI's nets in Asia, including AXN and Animax in Japan; AXN Asia, Animax Asia and SET based in Singapore; AXN and Animax in Korea; and AXN Beyond in the Philippines.  He will also work with Kalle on SET, MAX, SAB and PIX in India. Chien will sit on the board of AXN Japan, a joint venture with Jupiter TV.

Chien has been VP of international networks since last year and was previously executive director, international networks.
