Wolfson to lead Rotterdam festival

Move follows stint in charge

Rutger Wolfson has been appointed general director of the Rotterdam International Film Festival for the next four years.

The move follows his recent stint overseeing the last festival, which wrapped Feb. 3.

Melle Daamen, chairman of the festival’s board, said: “We consider Rutger Wolfson to be an excellent director who will energetically take in hand the festival’s organization.

“He has settled himself fast and with engagement in the large-scale world of the Rotterdam film festival.

“I think that he will further develop the international position of the festival. We can expect an innovative festival program from him.”

Wolfson, who is 38, has a background in curating contemporary art exhibitions. He has been a member of the festival’s board since 2004.

He said: “The Rotterdam Film Festival is innovative and pioneering. I find it very interesting to contribute to shape the future of the festival.”
