LONDON — Irish surfing doc “Wave Riders” won the audience award at the Dublin Intl. Film Festival, which ran Feb. 15-24.
Directed by Joel Conroy, the movie traces the origins of modern Hawaiian and Californian surfing back to Ireland, and showcases the world-class surfing scene of Ireland’s North-west coast.
“Wave Riders” edged out “Dambe — The Mali Project” for the award, with “Lars and the Real Girl” in third place,” “The Orphanage” in fourth, and “In Bruges” and “There Will Be Blood” tied for fifth.
