NBC shuts down 'Las Vegas'
Show declared casualty of writer's strike
NBC has nixed the idea of resuming production on the Universal Media Studios drama, despite the fact that its last original episode ended with a "to be continued" cliffhanger.
"Vegas" creator-exec producer Gary Scott Thompson told TV Guide.com on Tuesday that "Vegas" was a casualty of the writers strike, and that the decision was driven by the high cost of restarting production on the show, which boasts an elaborate casino set. "Vegas," which bowed in 2003, had been on the bubble for renewal even before the work stoppage hit in November.
A Peacock rep declined comment on the decision.
