Pellicano trial postponed one week

U.S. District Court Judge Dale Fischer agreed to postpone on Thursday at the request of lawyers for some of the defendants. Delay is just the most recent of several for the trial.
The case once billed as the one that would bring down Hollywood goes to trial in a much abbreviated form. In addition to Pellicano, co-defendants are former LAPD officer Mark Arneson; Rayford Earl Turner, a former SBC and Pacific Bell technician; computer technician Kevin Kachikian; and Abner Nicherie, who was involved in a business dispute with a man who was allegedly wiretapped.
Well-known entertainment lawyer Terry Christensen also was indicted for allegedly paying Pellicano $100,000 to wiretap Lisa Bonder Kerkorian, the wife of Christensen's longtime client Kirk Kerkorian. Fischer ruled earlier this week that Christensen would be tried separately at the conclusion of Pellicano's trial.
Pellicano was indicted on federal wiretapping charges in 2006 following a massive investigation that seemed to touch virtually every Hollywood figure either as a victim or a user of Pellicano's services. Kings and kingmakers such as Brad Grey, Michael Ovitz and Bert Fields figured prominently in the government's investigation. They all have denied any knowledge of Pellicano's allegedly illegal activities, and none of them was indicted. Their names, however, along with hundreds of others, including wiretap victims Sylvester Stallone and Garry Shandling, have resurfaced as potential witnesses on the government's enormous trial subpoena list.
