Actress Lydia Shum dies
'Fei Fei' appeared in over 70 Hong Kong movies

Her plump physique, bad hair and retro glasses gave her a friendly, everyday look that went over well with generations of TV and film auds. Known as "Fei Fei" or fatty, Shum was born in Shanghai but became a child star in Hong Kong and as a comedienne was a long-term fixture on Hong Kong free-to-air channel TVB. She also appeared in over 70 Hong Kong movies.
"Fei Fei is Hong Kong's 'happy fruit.' Hong Kong people have grown up with her laughter and she had brought a lot of happiness to us," said Hong Kong's chief executive Donald Tsang.
She had been suffering from liver cancer for over a year and died in Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong.
Shum is survived by daughter Joyce Cheng and former husband Adam Cheng.
