Chris Kraus preps 'Poll'

German Film Awards winner readies drama

COLOGNE -- Chris Kraus, a big winner at last year's German Film Awards with his teacher drama "Four Minutes," is prepping "Poll."

Pic is a family drama set at the beginning of WWI in Lithuania, produced by Berlin-based Kordes & Kordes together with French and Estonian partners.

The project received $580,000 in production aid from funding authority Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg in its February allocation.

The funder awarded $8 million to an array of projects, several of which had earlier received coin from other orgs, such as July Delpy's "The Countess," Hans-Christian Schmid's "Sturm," Alain Gsponer's "Lila, Lila," Anno Saul's "Past Perfect" and telepic "The Sea Wolf," based on Jack London's novel.

Smaller projects supported by the body included documentary "Terminal of Desires" by Sung Hyung Chos, who earlier made it to the bigscreen with her docu about an annual hard rock festival in Germany's rural backwater, "Full Metal Village."
