Exec is understood to be talking to NBC brass about several ideas that would keep him in the Peacock fold but allow him to make better use of his right-brain skills. NBC Entertainment co-chiefs Ben Silverman and Marc Graboff are said to be amenable to the idea, and are hammering out the specifics of the job, which would likely take on a more big-picture, strategic focus.
Manze -- who spent more than 15 years in top promotion jobs at the Peacock -- shocked many in the biz last April when he decided to switch to scheduling. Career change was seen as a head-scratcher since Manze had been known for his production work, both as a blurbmeister and as exec producer of skeins such as the syndie drama "She Spies."
"The best use of Vince was not as day-to-day scheduling guy," one insider said.
Both NBC and Manze declined comment.
