Senator buys Weltruf TV

Company steps up TV production

By ED MEZA

BERLIN -- Senator's shopping spree continues -- its latest acquisition is Cologne-based TV production outfit Weltruf TV.

Shingle was set up in 1999 by Niels Ruf, who found fame with a politically incorrect show on Viva 2.

Senator wants to beef up its TV production division. It recently announced a joint venture with helmer Wolfgang Petersen to produce English-language miniseries via its Cologne-based subsidiary Pro, which it acquired last year. Senator also recently purchased 25% of Berlin-based Eastern European distrib A Co.
