JUST AS the memoir of Kathleen Turner hits the bookstores this week, her co-star in "Peggy Sue Got Married," Nicolas Cage, is refusing to turn the other cheek. Kathleen doesn't recall the filmmaking with pleasure in her book "Send Yourself Roses" and Cage has filed libel proceedings against Turner for "false allegations" in London's High Court. Why do Americans sue each other in England? Because the libel laws there are much less forgiving than in the dear old U.S. ... On March 17, the Stella Adler School of Acting is holding a benefit at Cipriani 23rd Street. That night, the Brando award will go to Martin Sheen and the Group Theater Award was going to be handed to Roy Scheider for his prolific achievements in theater. Someone undeniably famous and credible will have to fill in, accepting for Roy. ... The Berkshire International Film Festival is giving its Achievement in Film prize to Kevin Bacon.
