Entertainment Value Associates is ramping up its local and international production activities with the acquisition of international rights to Karel Dirka’s upcoming World War II drama "Habermann's Mill."
Pic, which examines the plight of German refugees fleeing the lost Sudetenland territory in former Czechoslovakia, is in preproduction, with Dirka’s Munich-based Art-Oko Film producing.
The film is one of a number of projects on EVA’s growing slate. Company has boarded $15 million family film "Raising Phoenix," a co-production with L.A.-based Uncharted Territory.
Pic, about a 12-year-old boy who finds a mysterious egg, is set to lense in Berlin and Bavaria this spring.
EVA also recently partnered with Sony and Universal in co-producing the upcoming straight-to-video pics "Starship Troopers: Marauder" and "The Scorpion King: Rise of the Akkadian," respectively, and is co-producing the CGI-animated fantasy film "Dragon Dale" with Berlin-based Media Content Factory.
