William Morris Independent continues to rev up sales for Stephen Walker's documentary "Young @ Heart," with deals inked in a number of territories, including France, Germany and Japan.
Fox Searchlight picked up rights for North America last year at the Los Angeles Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for international feature. The acquisition -- Fox Searchlight's first of a documentary -- and its success at the fest have helped fuel sales around the world, according to WMI.
Doc showcases a New England senior citizens chorus group that performs covers of songs by everyone from the Clash to Coldplay while struggling with the complications of aging.
"Young @ Heart" was originally conceived for television and financed by Channel Four, but WMI created a new theatrical version of the film for international distribution.
Company has inked deals for the pic with Jean Labadie's Le Pacte in France, Rialto for Australia/New Zealand, Senator Film in Germany and the Pix/Avex Group in Japan.
