'Into the Hoods' heads to West End

Play includes music from Gorillaz, Prince, Brown

Family-friendly hip-hop tuner "Into the Hoods," a two-time vet of the Edinburgh Fringe, gets a West End run in March.

A fairy-tale smorgasbord inspired by Stephen Sondheim's "Into the Woods," production incorporates contempo music from Gorillaz, Massive Attack, Prince and James Brown, among others. Plot centers on two kids who get lost in the hood and meet characters such as Spinderella and Rap-on-Zel.

Zoo Nation produces the show, which is helmed by Kate Prince.

"Into the Hoods" bows at the Novello Theater March 14 in a run skedded to end May 10.
