David Slade to direct 'Unthinkable'

Momentum Pictures recently acquired film

"30 Days of Night" helmer David Slade has signed on to direct topical thriller "Unthinkable" for Michael Mendelsohn and Caldecott Chubb.

Tarsem Singh ("The Cell") was previously attached to direct.

Story involves investigators who push the limits of interrogation as they seek a suspect's knowledge of an impending nuclear attack on the United States.

Rights outside North America are handled by Kimmel Intl. Domestic rights are currently open and held by the producers, ChubbCo Film Co. and Patriot Pictures.

The film was acquired for the U.K. on Thursday by Momentum Pictures on the strength of Slade appointment as helmer.

"David Slade will bring a unique twist to this great genre script," said Xavier Marchand, president of Momentum.

Pic, which will film in the summer, is scripted by British multihyphenate Peter Woodward and Oren Moverman ("I'm Not There"). Budget, dependent on casting, is pegged at $15 million.
