U.K. sales and finance company Lumina Films inked deals Thursday on Berlin Panorama title "Heavy Metal in Baghdad."
The documentary about an Iraqi punk rock band was sold to the U.K.'s Slingshot Studios and in Turkey to Medyavizion.
The Turkish deal is particularly gratifying, a Lumina spokesman said. The band has been on the run since making the movie last year and recently settled in Turkey, having been granted refugee status by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees.
The film is directed by Eddy Moretti and Suroosh Alvi, produced by Monica Hampton and exec produced by Shane E. Smith and Spike Jonze. It was previously licensed to Submarine Entertainment for the U.S.
Lumina handles international sales.
