The Gotham preem of "In Bruges" on Monday brought out stars Colin Farrell and Clemence Poesy as well as director Martin McDonagh, who, despite battling food poisoning from a hotel meal, gamely walked the press line.

Tony-winning playwright McDonagh alleges he'll Benedict Arnold his roots and concentrate solely on film. "I was terrified going in," he said of helming. "It became a joy. They (the actors) taught me a lot. I was strict about the lines but open with what they could do with them." After the screening, the crowd hopped cabs to the after-party at Irving Mill for champagne and shrimp.

"I'm so pleased we could finally come out with a movie that's not depressing," Focus Features prexy James Schamus said. "Oscar season is so depressing."
