Bruce Beresford is helming an indie drama now filming in China and Australia about a Chinese ballet dancer chosen to train at Madam Mao's Beijing Dance Academy. "Mao's Last Dancer" is based on the memoir of the same title by Li Cunxin.
San Francisco Ballet Company dancer Amanda Schull ("Center Stage") heads the cast. The script is written by Jan Sardi, ("The Notebook") and produced by Jane Scott ("Shine").
