
Alicia Keys's 'As I Am'
Alicia Keys and the soundtrack to "Juno" got on the seesaw again, as Keys' "As I Am" returned to No. 1.
Key's album experienced a 3% sales spike to get her to sales of 61,000, according to Nielsen Soundscan. The "Juno" Rhino soundtrack sold 55,000 to take the two slot for the week ended Sunday.
Four rookies occupied slots in the top 10.
Just missing the two hole was Mars Volta's The Bedlam in Goliath" (Universal), which sold 54,000 copies to open at No. 3. It is the band's third album to open in the top 10, but the lowest opening week in terms of sales.
Bullet For My Valentine's "Scream Aim Fire" (Jive/Zomba) sold 600 fewer than "Bedlam" to open at No. 4, career best numbers for the Welsh metal band.
The "2008 Grammy Nominees" compilation album moved 50,000 units to debut at No. 5.
"Hannah Montana 2: Non-Stop Dance Party" (Disney), an album of remixes, sold 40,000 the week Miley Cyrus' "Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour" film topped the U.S. box office.
Sarah Brightman's "Symphony" (Manhattan) sold 31,000 to start at No. 13, the highest chart debut of her career. Brightman, whose new PBS special debuts this week, performed recently on "CBS Early Show," "The View" and "Martha Stewart."
The heavily hyped Ivy League rock act from New York, Vampire Weekend, saw its XL Recordings debut sell 28,000 copies to enter the charts at No. 17. Andrea Bocelli's CD/DVD set "Vivere: Live in Tuscany" (Decca) sold 22,000 and opened at No. 22.
Shelby Lynne's album of songs associated with Dusty Springfield, "Just a Little Lovin'," (Lost Highway) sold 16,000 to open at No. 41. Labelmate Willie Nelson sold 13,000 copies of his "Moment of Forever" to open at No. 56. Idina Menzel, known for "Wicked" on Broadway" and "Enchanted" on the bigscreen, saw similar sales figures for her Warner debut "I Stand," which opened at No. 58.
After one month, sales are down 12% from last year.
