Films to premiere at French Cinema '08

Film Society, Unifrance team for showcase

The Film Society of Lincoln Center and Unifrance USA will team to present Rendez-Vous With French Cinema 2008. Opening night kicks off Feb 29 with Claude Lelouch's thriller "Roman de gare," starring Fanny Ardant.

Fifteen films will have their Gotham or U.S. preems during the showcase, which runs through March 9. Pics will screen at the Walter Reade Theater in midtown and IFC downtown.

In other highlights, helmer Cedric Klapisch will present "Paris," starring Juliette Binoche and Romain Duris. Mathieu Amalric, who is receiving kudos for his work in "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly," appears in two films, "A Secret" and "Heartbeat Detector." Also skedded for debut is "Fear(s) of the Dark," an animated collaboration by six comicbook artists that "weaves horror into science fiction."
