"Under One Roof," from C to the B Prods., Qtopia Entertainment and Canada's Insight Prods., reps the first half-hour comedy ever for MyNet. Broadcaster has picked up 13 episodes of the show, which is slated to air in the spring.
C to the B's Claude Brooks ("Second Time Around") created the show with Qtopia's Darryl J. Quarles ("Big Momma's House").
Show was written by non-Writers Guild of America members Danielle Quarles and Gelila Asres (who also doubles as development VP at C to the B), and is being partly funded by a Canadian production company (Insight). That may explain how the show has been able to move forward despite the WGA strike.
"Under One Roof" also is being shot in Toronto and will be directed by Brian Roberts.
MyNetworkTV prexy Greg Meidel called the show "a classic fish-out-of-water story."
Flav, whose recent credits include VH1's wildly successful "Flavor of Love" series, has been cast as ex-convict Calvester Hill. Show kicks off with Flav's character moving in with his wealthy, conservative brother Walter (played by Kelly Perine).
"I am about to take MyNetworkTV and make it my network," Flav said.
A MyNetworkTV spokesman said the weblet hadn't found a home for the show yet; it's quite possible the network has another comedy in the works that it can pair with "Under One Roof."
