Fellow director Zhang Yimou was re-elected to the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), but there was no place for thesp Gong Li on the political advisory body.
Feng Xiaogang, whose most recent work includes “Assembly” and Yin Li, who is best known for “The Knot” are elected to the panel for five years. There are 2,237 members of the advisory body, which meets around the time of the National People’s Congress in March.
The delegates are expected to attend the annual parliament and make suggestions, highlight problems and convey public complaints at the NPC, which is effectively a talking shop which discusses motions already agreed by the Communist Party leadership.
