The former Warner Bros. co-topper stepped down from the Internet giant's board of directors Thursday, seven months after he resigned as CEO and segued to the role of non-executive chairman. Roy Bostock, a Yahoo board member since 2003, will take on the role of non-executive chairman.
Semel's departure from the Yahoo board had been expected following the shakeup in June that saw co-founder Jerry Yang assume the CEO reins.
In the past few months, Semel has revived the Century City-based Windsor Media investment banner that he launched after exiting Warner Bros. in 1999. Company is said to be interested in buying or investing in digital media and traditional entertainment ventures.
