Former KVEA-TV vice president/general manager Manuel Abud has assumed the same title and job at NBC-owned Telemundo's KXTX-TV in Dallas. Abud lost the KVEA job last summer after station anchor/reporter Mirthala Salinas revealed that she was having an affair with Villaraigosa.
At the time, Salinas said Abud and station officials knew about her relationship with Villaraigosa. Yet she was still allowed on the air to report on Villaraigosa's marital problems. Salinas was suspended, later reassigned, and ultimately left the station; she and Villaraigosa also eventually ended their relationship.
Telemundo prexy Don Browne and Telemundo Stations Group topper Ibra Morales announced Abud's reassignment along side several more station appointments. Carlos Sanchez was named VP and GM of WNJU, New York; Celia Chavez is VP/GM at KDEN, Denver, and KBLR, Las Vegas; and Roel Medina is VP/GM at KVDA, San Antonio, in addition to continuing in the same capacity at KTMD, Houston.
