Universal Media taps new drama VP

O'Brien formerly oversaw Sci Fi's originals

Universal Media Services is keeping things in the family, tapping Sci Fi Channel exec Nora O'Brien VP of drama programming.

O'Brien has spent the past four years as VP of original programming at Sci Fi, helping develop miniseries "The Lost Room" and serving as current exec on the "Stargate" franchise.

In her new post, she'll work on developing projects and managing existing ones, including upcoming Tom Fontana skein "The Philanthropist."

O'Brien reports to UMS senior veep of drama Elisa Roth, who said O'Brien has good relationships in Hollywood and is a "hard worker who has already become a valuable asset to our studio."

Before Sci Fi, O'Brien spent five years at the TV arm of Trilogy Entertainment, overseeing development and current programming.
