Marie Osmond to host talkshow

Syndicated series to launch in fall 2009

In a surprise appearance at NATPE, Marie Osmond announced her return to TV as a talkshow host. Program Partners will make the entertainment-lifestyle yakker "Marie" available in syndication beginning in fall 2009.

The hour will air five days per week. Format and taping site are still being discussed.

Program Partners co-head Rich Colbert declared: "This trumps everything we've done to date. This is a tough secret to keep."

Osmond, most recently in the spotlight on "Dancing With the Stars," said she hopes to make the program a "feel-good" experience, adding, "I have a real love for women."

One reason Osmond agreed to the deal was Program Partners' willingness to let her call the shots in crafting the show and its focus. Osmond said she was told to "make it something I feel passionate about. Not to be homogenized."

Osmond's no stranger to syndication. She and brother Donny Osmond hosted daytime talker "Donny and Marie" from 1998-2000.

"You can't lie on TV," Osmond said. "It's about talking, communicating and being part of everyone's lives."
