Target lines up Daly for U.S. growth

Exec joins from Go Go Luckey

LONDON — U.K. TV distrib Target Entertainment has named reality producer Jenny Daly to the newly created position of chief creative officer for the U.S.

Daley joins Target from Santa Monica-based Go Go Luckey Prods., the company behind MTV’s “Laguna Beach,” and will spearhead the company’s expansion into production of both scripted and unscripted programming.

Reporting to group managing director Ian Jones, she will be based at Target’s L.A. office, where she will work alongside West Coast senior VP programming Glen Hansen.

“Jenny’s far-reaching production and development experience means she is perfectly placed to help Target increase its foothold in the U.S.,” commented Jones.

As well as developing and producing new shows, Daly will also seek co-production opportunities between the U.S. and U.K. and will look to secure further first look deals with local producers.

The company already reps a number of U.S. reality producers, including “Flavor of Love” producer 51 Minds, Lighthearted Entertainment and Stone and Co.

U.S. expansion has been a priority since private equity outfit Electra Quoted Management took a 40% stake in Target last summer.

Last July, the company acquired rival distrib Minotaur International for a reported £7 million ($10.2 million), making it one of the biggest rights distribution businesses in the U.K., and struck a strategic alliance with Virgin Media TV to act as its preferred distribution partner.

As part of that partnership, Daly will also be charged with sourcing new formats and ideas for Virgin to commission for its U.K. channel portfolio.

“Jenny will be instrumental in meeting one of our key objectives: to connect and work with the best U.S. producers and bring their ideas to our channels,” said VMtv managing director Jonathan Webb.
