De Miguel joins Zinkia

Exec will steer animation company

MADRID — Spanish new media exec Fernando de Miguel has been appointed as CEO at Madrid-based animation company Zinkia Entertainment.

De Miguel replaces Victor Lopez, who left the company last month.

In his new role, De Miguel will be responsible for implementing new operational and business structures, building existing global franchises for Zinkia's multi-award winning pre-school series "Pocoyo" and "Shuriken School."

Established in 2001, Zinkia has focused on the production of innovative animated contents. It teamed with Blighty's Granada Intl. to co-produce "Pocoyo" and co-produced "Shuriken" with French toon studio Xilam Animation.

According to De Miguel, now the challenge at Zinkia is to build on Pocoyo's success and steer the company forward to the next phase of growth.

Zinkia is developing 3-D series "Mola noguru," adapting traditional tales worldwide. Company also plans to develop its vidgames production division.
