Toymaker Hasbro has started taking orders, exclusively on its website, for a toy that will retail for $100 but won't ship until Sept. 30.
Keeping with Par's strategy of let's-not-reveal-too-much of the monster that rampages through New York City, photos of the toy weren't yet available on HasbroToyShop.com.
The 14-inch figure is being aimed at the collectible crowd and will include sound, two interchangeable heads (one each for the monster's "calm or agitated" moods), 10 parasites and the head of the Statue of Liberty.
Plans for a toy hadn't been worked out in time for the pic's release, or even its eventual DVD bow. But Hasbro wasn't going to pass up on the chance to be part of the film's success, especially after it earned $46 million over its four-day opening weekend.
"The fan buzz on this film has been terrific, and we are happy to take part in the excitement," said Hasbro's chief operating officer, Brian Goldner, in a statement.
Hasbro already has close ties to Paramount. The duo produced last summer's "Transformers," are planning a sequel and have "G.I. Joe" in the works -- all based on the toy lines.
