Dori opens doors wider in Miami

Media group hires Fernandez as VP of sales

BUENOS AIRES -- Tel Aviv-based Dori Media Group has hired Juan Antonio Fernandez as vice president of sales of its Miami division Dori Media America to spearhead an expansion in the Americas.

He will oversee sales of telenovelas to Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market.

Fernandez managed sales in Europe and the Middle East for Coral Intl., the foreign sales unit of RCTV, before climbing to VP of international sales for the Venezuelan network.

He will report to Jose Escalante, CEO of Dori Media America and president of Dori Media Distribution.

Dori Media, which produces 600-800 hours a year in Argentina and Israel, opened the Miami division last year to help expand sales. It has since bought studios in Argentina and Israel in a drive to boost production to 800-1,000 hours in 2008 and above that in 2009.

Fernandez will attend the Jan. 28-31 NATPE convention in Las Vegas, where Dori Media will headline its portfolio with wide-selling Argentine womanizer comedy "Lalola" and the Israeli products "Mannequins" and "Screenz."
